Inflation Calculator Privacy Policy

Effective October 7, 2026

The short version

Inflation Calculator has no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email, contacts, location or photos. We don't sell data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.

What stays on your iPhone

Your calculations, currency choice and settings stay on your device. Ask conversations are kept only while the app is open.

If you speak a question, Apple's speech recognition turns it into text, on your device when your iPhone supports it. We never receive audio.

If you allow notifications, reminders (the yearly inflation update, and the end of a free trial) are scheduled on your device. Our server doesn't send notifications.

What our server receives

The app downloads the latest inflation figures from our server. The Time Machine and Ask features also use it. Like any website, the server sees your IP address and basic request details.

To run these features, the app sends technical details such as your time zone, language, app version and whether you have Premium, plus a check that it's a genuine copy of the app. None of this includes your name or contact details.

We keep only what's needed to run the service fairly: daily usage counts (like how many questions you've asked today), which are deleted automatically within a few days, and a security record for your copy of the app, which doesn't identify you and is deleted automatically within about a year.

Ask (AI answers)

When you ask a question, the question and the last few messages of the conversation are sent to our server and then to OpenAI, which writes the answer using our inflation data. The app asks for your permission before your first question.

We don't store your questions or the answers, and we tell OpenAI not to store them either. OpenAI may keep data sent to its API for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes it, and it doesn't use this data to train its models. See OpenAI's privacy policy. Please don't include personal details, like account numbers or addresses, in questions.

Inflation Calculator in ChatGPT and Codex

Inflation Calculator is also available as a plugin in ChatGPT and Codex. When the assistant uses it, the request comes from OpenAI's servers, not your device, and contains only what the calculation needs: an amount, years, a currency, or the name of an item or spending category.

We don't receive your name, email or ChatGPT account, and the plugin has no accounts or sign-in. ChatGPT may attach technical hints to a request, such as your language, time zone or approximate location; the plugin doesn't use them. We don't store anything sent to it; only the standard request logs described below are kept. Your conversation itself is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.

Service providers

Our server runs on Google Cloud in the United States. Google Cloud keeps standard request logs (IP address, time and the address requested) for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting. Our error logs never include the text of your questions.

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.

Children

Inflation Calculator isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because we don't keep personal information, there's nothing to request or delete; usage counts expire on their own. You can turn off notifications in Settings, and you never have to use Ask.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
